PlayStation Plus Is About to Get More Expensive in Europe

The price of PlayStation Plus for gamers in both the UK and Europe will be getting an increase, Sony has announced. This price hike applies specifically to one-month and three-month subscriptions, which currently run folks £5.49 and £11.99, respectively.

The PlayStation manufacturer has not yet revealed what the new prices for these subscription options will be. That said, those who opt for the yearly option can rest assured that we won't be seeing a change on that front. A year-long subscription to PS Plus will remain locked in at £39.99.

"We are dedicated to bringing PlayStation Plus members the best possible service with the most compelling content," Sony explained in a newly released statement. "From September 1, 2015 we will be increasing the price of monthly and three-month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in line with market conditions. We will continue to invest in PlayStation Plus to ensure an unparalleled experience, featuring the best quality games and features."

There's no word on whether other territories will be seeing a price increase as well, but here's to hoping Sony doesn't plan to up the price around the globe. Admittedly, it's a great service that offers plenty of value, but it would be nice if it remained at the reasonable price it's currently locked in at. That said, I'm sure most gamers spring for the year-long subscription anyway, so I'm not sure how many folks are being affected by the hike.

Bearing that in mind, let us know whether or not you subscribe to PlayStation Plus in the comments. Do you subscribe on a yearly basis, or do you opt for either the single or three-month option? How much would you be willing to pay to stick will the service in the event Sony does increase it for everyone?
