Mojang to Stop Active Development of Scrolls

The name Mojang is synonymous with the wildly popular Minecraft, but the developer also made a card battling game called Scrolls in recent years. Unfortunately for the company, it hasn't been met with the same reception.

Scrolls received a new "Echoes" update earlier this month which adds new content, but it'll be the last meaningful addition to the game. Mojang made the announcement on its blog.

"After much deliberation, we’ve come to an important decision that we’d like to share: Echoes will be the last major content patch for Scrolls," the post states. "We won’t be adding features or sets from now on, though we are planning to keep a close eye on game balance."

The company plans to keep servers up and running until "at least" July 1, 2016. Any future proceeds will go towards the servers in order to sustain the life of the game.

The first Scrolls beta launched back in June 2013, and the game officially came out in December 2014. Since that time there hasn't been much buzz surrounding Scrolls, and it looks like this news is the result.
