Warner Bros. Picks Up Rights to Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie

If three games wasn't enough to ensure people never sleep soundly or enjoy Chuck E. Cheese's with their children ever again, Freddy Fazbear and friends are now headed to the big screen.

Warner Bros. has announced that they have picked up the rights to a Five Nights at Freddy's feature-length film, and has attached Roy Lee, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg as producers.

The original game surrounds the adorable animatronic crew of Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Parlor, where Freddy and his friends Bonnie Bunny, Chica the Chicken, and Foxy the Pirate sing and dance by day, and go on violent rampages by night. Series creator Scott Cawthon says the plot of the game “really lends itself to being a movie, and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that a lot of people will be able to relate to.”

“We're looking forward to working with Scott to make an insane, terrifying, and weirdly adorable movie,” said Grahame-Smith, who along with Katzenberg are also developing a sequel to Beetlejuice. Lee recently produced the Liam Neeson action flick Run All Night, as well as the upcoming remake of Poltergeist. The three together are also working on the feature remake of Stephen King's It, so it's safe to say Freddy and company have some scary minds at the helm.
