Dying Light Patch Removes Modding on PC [Update: Restored]

[Update 2] The folks over at Techland have released a new patch for Dying Light that adds mod support back into the game. Dubbed version 1.4.0, this new update also improves load times, overall stability, and more.

You can get the full rundown on what's included in the latest patch right here.

[Update 1] If you were disappointed by the recent patch for Dying Light that strips away mod support, you'll be pleased to know Techland is working on a fix to restore the ability.

"Creating obstacles for modders has never been our intention," Techland told Eurogamer. "We are now working on a quick patch that will re-enable common tweaks while stopping cheating in the game's multiplayer mode.

"At Techland, we have always supported the mod community, and loved seeing how our own game can be changed by the players. A big part of the original Dead Island's success was the passion and creativity of mod-makers from our community. We want the same for Dying Light."

Thanks, Sourdeez for the tip!

[Original] The latest patch for Techland's new zombie-filled first-person action title Dying Light has been released, and unfortunately removes the ability to mod the game.

According to the patch notes for the update, the fix was released in order to "block cheating by changing the game's data files." You can get the full rundown on all the changes packed into patch 1.2.1 right here.

Dying LIght released last week for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. You can check out our review to see if the game is something up your alley.
